Lake Worth's Street Painting Festival brings color to downtown ...

The human eye can perceive 10 million colors. Yes, 10 million.

Chances are you?ll see a lot of those colors just lying in the street this weekend in Lake Worth.

The 18th annual Lake Worth Street Painting Festival, the city?s most popular ? and its signature event ? will fill Lake and Lucerne avenues with color and form and creativity.

More than 600 artists will turn concrete to canvas . Classical and modern, abstract and realist, animal, vegetable and mineral will transform the street into a live outdoor art gallery.

The Street Painting Festival is one of the largest of its kind and you?ll find both original work and reproductions of the masters. Stretching from Dixie Highway to Federal Highway, the route is less than a mile.

You can make a day of the festival: Watch the artists work. Browse vendors and window shop. Go to lunch and check back and see how the pieces are developing. You can speak with the artists and give feedback and encouragement. Visit a few shops and walk again.

The weather man promises mild breezy weather, perfect for this interactive event. See the gallery before any rains dissolve it into memories.

The Street Painting Festival Inc. is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, and proceeds provide scholarships for Palm Beach County high school students and community projects associated with the arts.

Parking is available downtown and valet service will also be available. Take advantage of free festival transportation from the Lake Worth Tri-Rail station to City Hall during festival hours.
